Amy Gittins
Consultant IBS Dietitian
Amy has been working as a dietitian for over 10 years, with a strong passion for gastroenterology. During her training, she quickly recognised the profound impact that nutrition has on disease states and found it incredibly rewarding to see the pivotal role dietetics plays in patient care. From that moment, she knew gastroenterology was her calling.
Amy has worked across both adult and paediatric gastroenterology, including at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, supporting patients with a wide range of gut health conditions. She is particularly dedicated to providing expert, evidence-based care to those with IBS, helping them take control of their symptoms through tailored dietary strategies. With her extensive experience and patient-centred approach, Amy is an excellent addition to Kirsten Jackson’s The Take Control IBS Programme, offering compassionate support and specialist knowledge to those looking to improve their gut health and troublesome symptoms.
Outside of working with IBS patients, Amy enjoys writing for Clinical Nutrition Magazine on topics such as Gut Health, Probiotics and Prebiotics, SIBO and IBD. Amy co-delivers the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Management of IBS using the low FODMAP diet. Amy also delivers the BDA Course: Coeliac Disease: Further management and its complexities and regularly runs webinars on Gut Health.
