I’ve come a long way from the beginning of my journey with Kirsten and her team.
After suffering from IBS-D for over 30 years, and trying different diets and hypnosis, including trying to do the Low FODMAP diet by myself, earlier this year I came across the IBS Dietitian.
I did prevaricate for a while before deciding to get in touch with Kirsten as I’d already worked with others and not got a complete hold on my symptoms and the outlay was fairly expensive. Thankfully I eventually decided to take the plunge and contacted the IBS Dietitian and I’m so glad I did.
I spoke with the lovely Kirsty and for 12 weeks we worked through the FODMAP diet in a constructed manner. Because of timings on my part I didn’t fully get to work through the whole programme but Kirsty made sure I had lots of information to finish the course off by myself but knowing she was there at the end of an email if I really got stuck.
I’m currently having sessions with Cheryl, from the IBS Dietitian, working on the CBT side of things, as I realised that my IBS-D isn’t all about just food. I get anxious and my subconscious likes to dominate my thoughts at times, so by working with Cheryl I’m hoping I will eventually have this all under control.
Kirsten recently gave me advice, as I was going on a ‘Once In a Lifetime’ holiday and was really concerned about how I would cope. With Kirsten’s advice I had an incredible holiday where my stomach, for the most part, was really calm. I still had to be reasonably cautious about what foods I ate, a lot of chicken and rice, but it meant I could actually get on and really enjoy my adventures.
I’m not totally there yet with control over my IBS-D but I’ve come a long way from the beginning of my journey with Kirsten and her team and will now follow all the advice I’ve been given until my symptoms are fully under control. I’ve also bought Kirsten’s book ‘Take Control of Your IBS’ so I can look things up if, and when, needed.
Thank you to all at IBS Dietitian that have helped me to get this far on my journey!
